On April 3rd a lively community of artists, retailers and
special guests gathered
at 140 to celebrate the effervescent official opening of the140
Pop-up Project.
The astroturf lined laneway of eclectic pop-up shops and
studios, including Zara
Bryson, Father, Miss Brown Vintage, Pigeonhole, We Heart Vintage,
William Topp,
Andy Quilty and All Of The Above Creative was alive with the sights
and sounds
of sideshow alley inspired theming and in-store activities.
Highlights of the opening included acoustic guitar sets by 'Cleo
Bachelor of the Year'
finalist, Ben Swift and Zara Bryson's own singer/songwriter,
Amrit.
At the neighbouring Miss Brown Vintage pop-up a caricaturist
sketched guests styled
in their favourite vintage era, whilst an air of style and glamour
engulfed the We Heart Vintage pop-up as spirited shoppers sipped
sparkling, indulged in chocolate fondue
and browsed the store's unique collection of vintage garments and
accessories.
Having quickly established itself as a cultural hub over the
past 18 months, 140's
desire to take its support of the creative industries to the next
level inspired the
Project's inception.
The 140 Pop-up Project is the first pop-up community of its kind
and scale in the
Perth CBD and is set to provide consumers with an entirely new
shopping experience.

Located on the ground floor of 140, the 140 Pop-up Project
opening hours can be found under each retailer name in the Shop
Section.

Over the past 18 months 140 has quickly established itself as a
cultural hub, having played host to an eclectic line-up of creative
talent, including the popular Made On The Left markets, Hurben
street art exhibition, musician Ben Merito and Ping Pong on Public
Art. Designed to take 140's support of the creative industries to
the next level, the 140 Pop-up Project opens to the public on 3
April 2012 and will run through until mid June 2012.
The 140 Pop-up Project will unite a vibrant collective of
artists and independent retailers, as they become temporary
neighbours for three months, forming the first pop-up community of
its kind and scale in the Perth CBD. The initiative will provide
the buzzing community of independent retailers and creatives with a
unique and interesting platform to showcase their talents and
wares, free of expensive overheads.

bringing vintage fashions back to life in a contemporary style.
Madeleine's creativity, dedication and artful eye on how to
capture great vintage pieces allowed her to quickly evolve and she
opened her first shop in Bondi Beach in 1994. The success of the
first store sparked a further two stores in Sydney's Surry Hills
where her own designs of clothing made from vintage remnant fabrics
gained a large following.
Further success sparked another wave of stores - one in
Melbourne's trendy Gertrude Street and later in 2011, with her new
Perth business partner Kelly Roberson, the first Perth pop-up store
was opened at the William Street Residence Northbridge.
