Sporting stars from both Emirates Western Force and Perth Glory
generously gave of their time today to battle it out for sporting
supremacy on our 140 ping pong table, all in the name of
charity.
City of Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi refereed the game that
pitted Western Force players Sam Wykes and Nick Cummins against
Glory players Shane Smeltz and Jacob Burns to raise funds for the
Salvation Army Christmas Appeal in a unique Ping Pong on Public Art
feature match.
"It just wasn't my day," Wykes said.
"I not sure if the net was regulation size, every ball I hit just
keep smacking into it," he joked.
"Cummo was doing alright and I was trying my hardest to back him
up but there wasn't much ping in my pong."
Members of the public can play a game of ping pong for a gold coin
donation at the artwork installed at Globe Lane at 140 - situated
just off the Murray Street Mall - until Saturday 24
December.
Check out all the action.
